Our Philosophy
The family portrait up until the end of the 19th century hung only in the homes of the wealthy. The coming of photography changed that significantly, and allowed everyone access to a likeness of their loved ones. The evolution of the photographic portrait as an art-form has been considerably diluted with the commonality of the point and shoot camera and the ease of use of digital. A portrait maker, whether in painting or photography is a highly skilled artist. The digital revolution hasn’t changed the essential prerequisites of this beautiful art-form. The ability to see and light creatively will always be juxtaposed to the ordinariness that has crept into the industry in recent years. An expensive camera and a powerful Mac are merely the paint and brushes of the photographic artist. The skill in how to effectively wield them is what distinguishes a piece of art from an ordinary photograph.
About Andrew
Andrew has come from a successful career in commercial photography that has spanned over 25 years. For the past five years he has been concentrating more on portraiture as it ties in with his other great love, that of portrait painting. With a degree in photography from RMIT and many years as a photographer and painter, Andrew will create images of your family that will pass down through the generations.
